Reprogram Your Subconscious Mind
There’s a lot of controversy when it comes to defining what the subconscious mind is in the Law of Attraction world. Why? Because most Law of Attraction teachers teach that all of us are susceptible to our subconscious minds, and that it is much more powerful than our conscious minds.
But are we really, truly victims to our own mind? Is it true that our subconscious minds will actually sabotage us?
The answer is yes, and no – and that’s why it’s a controversial subject to begin with.
You see, in your subconscious mind are beliefs about yourself that you have been creating since you were born. These beliefs about yourself are like programs in a computer. Whenever there is an outside trigger that activates the program, you play the program in the form of action that aligns with your beliefs about yourself.
But it’s not like you don’t have control over those thoughts. If you were to purposely take control of your thoughts, and determine in your mind that you’d never think another negative thought again, it wouldn’t matter how powerful your beliefs or your subconscious was. You’d be able to override it with your powerful conscious mind.
Too many “gurus” in the self-help world want to make you believe that you are a victim to your all powerful subconscious mind. They say that the subconscious mind can process 400 billion bits of information but that the conscious mind, however, is only aware of 2,000 of the billions of bits.
But the problem with this comparison is our conscious ability to choose – our ability to choose whether we want to feel better, or not. In other words, you have the ability to raise your vibration, and to NOT ACTIVATE any negative belief in your subconscious mind.
What is the real problem?
Most of Us are Lazy Thinkers
When you don’t take active control of how you feel and allow your thoughts to run by default, THEN your subconscious mind WILL feed you whatever is programmed into it. That’s where the problem is, and that’s where all of this confusion is.
The point is that it’s best to not allow your mind and your life to run by default. Otherwise, you will continue to get what you have been getting. But when you take active control of your mind and what you think about, then your subconscious mind won’t have a chance to hinder you.
This does not mean, however, that it’s not a good idea to attempt to reprogram your subconscious mind. It can be done.
The best thing you can do for yourself is to:
- Take control of your thoughts consciously.
- Reprogram your subconscious mind.
When you do both, then you won’t ever have to worry about having to purposely take control of your thoughts.
What is the Real Problem?
The real problem is that most of us tend to dwell on the past in either regret, self-pity, or guilt. It’s the negative thoughts that we allow ourselves to think that is the real problem. And when we think those negative thoughts, they do get more and more deeply ingrained in our minds – in our thought patterns. But also, the Law of Attraction doesn’t care what you think about. And so if you go down a negative thought pattern, the Law of Attraction will assist you to think of even more negative thoughts. Not only that, but it will keep giving you circumstances, events and people who match the negative feeling.
That’s when most people give up and say, “It’s got to be my subconscious mind! I would NEVER want to attract bad things to myself!”
But it’s not your subconscious mind that’s the problem. The problem is that negative thoughts attract more negative things into your life – in other words, the problem is the Law of Attraction if you don’t know how to use it right!
This is not to say that you cannot reprogram your subconscious mind. And it’s not to say that doing so is not valuable. It is valuable. When you improve your own belief about yourself, then you can be lazier with your thinking and it won’t matter because there won’t be any negative beliefs in your subconscious mind to activate.
The subconscious mind responds well to repetition and also when you are already feeling good or are in a meditative state of mind. There are basically three ways.
So, what are some ways that you can reprogram your subconscious mind?
1. Affirmations
An affirmation is a positive statement that you say about yourself in order to make yourself feel better, such as, “I am worthy. I am a good person. I am good enough,” etc. But you need to say the affirmations WHEN YOU ARE FEELING GOOD ALREADY. If you repeat an affirmation while feeling bad, chances are that it won’t make you feel any better. If you feel bad, do something else in order to feel better, such as take a nap, pet your cat, take a walk, hike, workout, etc.
2. Hypnosis and Audios
Hypnosis works but the only problem with it is that it is usually temporary. The other option is to listen to audios that repeat positive affirmations over and over and over again. But if you have truly deep-seated negative beliefs about yourself, this may not work either.
3. Emotional Freedom Techniques
Emotional Freedom Techniques or EFT is one of the most powerful ways to change a negative belief. How?
Basically, what you do is you use EFT to address the events that CAUSED THE BELIEF TO BEGIN WITH. So, let’s say, for example, that you have a fear of public speaking. And you developed that fear when you were only eight years old right after you totally flubbed up an oral speech at school where all the kids laughed at you.
With EFT, you could remove the negative intensity behind that event, so that the emotional intensity was gone. And then, you could use what they call “re-framing” so that you could see the event from a new, more positive light. Next, you could use EFT while saying positive affirmations about yourself regarding public speaking in order to completely change the belief.
Conclusion
Understanding how powerful your conscious thoughts are is very important in order to understand how the Universe and the Law of Attraction really works. Your subconscious mind is not as powerful as your conscious mind because you have willful control of your thoughts. You can’t trust all of the gurus all of the time. They mean well, but sometimes, they are just plain wrong.
You do have control of your “vibration” or how you feel. And you can do that by choosing to willfully think better and better feeling thoughts.
But that is not to say that you cannot reprogram your subconscious mind. By using affirmations, hypnosis, and mainly EFT, you can reprogram your subconscious mind in order to reprogram your subconscious mind.
